OH went down the plots after work to do some more digging. He brought home some rhubarb which I made into a rhubarb crumble. Yum.

Mine seems to be the slowest growing rhubarb in Britain. I have to wait to mid feb before I get to eat my crumble. I am jealous.

Rhubarb crumble - yum!
This is my first year of growing rhubarb. It’s not supposed to flower is it?! (See photo on blog).

A few years back in the gardening forum on the OU conferencing system, a friend posted about her rhubarb flowering. I can’t remember what she did with it, though I asked her about it recently and she said it was doing fine.
Perhaps it would be worth cutting down the flowering stem to “conserve” energy and strengthen the plant for next year.
