Yacon arrived

strange tubers

Top left, going clockwise, Yakon (in original box with packaging), Oca, Ulluco and Jerusalem Artichokes. Still awaiting Chinese Artichokes which should arrive next month.

While on the strange plants front for allotment growing. OH bought Liquorice seeds (from the Eden Project range by Suttons Seeds). These can be sown February to June. According to the back of the packet, they want sowing in 15-20 Celsius heat, and then pot on into 3 inch pots. Then acclimatise before planting outdoors in spring after last frost. I am planning to sow these after Easter.

Sad news: a Riesentomate seedling was involved in a fatal accident after an adjacent propagator lid cover caught and severed its stem just under the first set of leaves.  The remaining 2 inches of stem has been left in the cell as a reminder to be more careful.
